Terms of Service
& Disclaimers

​​​In-line with Government requirements for contact tracing purposes, we will retain names and contact numbers of all attendees to Brightlife whilst adhering to current GDPR legislation.

Prenatal Massage Contraindications Consent 

​Massage therapy during pregnancy has been shown to be beneficial for a number of common complaints such as fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, sciatica, oedema, and many others. However, there are risks associated with specific conditions that may occur during pregnancy.

​You must inform your Massage Therapist if you have or have had in the past any of the following conditions or symptoms which may make massage therapy during pregnancy contraindicated or may require your Therapist to alter the massage.

​• History of miscarriage

• Gestational Diabetes

• Cardiac, pulmonary, liver, or renal disorders

• Current age over 35

• Pitting oedema

• Epilepsy or other convulsive disorders

• Placental or cervical dysfunction

• Abdominal pain

• Leaking of amniotic fluid

• Fever

• Sudden oedema/swelling

• Severe headaches

• Preeclampsia

• History of any high-risk pregnancy

• Drug exposure

• Multiple pregnancy

• Hypertension

• Genetic abnormalities

• Foetal growth retardation

• Bloody discharge

• Sudden weight gain

• Diarrhoea

• Decrease in foetal movement over 24-hour period

• Severe nausea or vomiting

By submitting our online consultation form, you are confirming that:-

  • You have read the aforementioned conditions and symptoms which make massage therapy during pregnancy contraindicated.

  • You have disclosed all high-risk factors of your pregnancy.

  • You understand massage therapy is not recommended during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

  • You are over 12 weeks pregnant at the date of signing this form.

  • You have discussed with your prenatal healthcare provider/GP any health concerns that you have about receiving massage therapy.

  • You agree that your healthcare provider/GP has given me clearance to receive massage therapy.

  • You understand the information contained on this form and further confirm that:- 

    1. you are receiving medical care including regular check-ups with a licensed healthcare provider/GP.

    2. you are not currently experiencing any of the listed symptoms, conditions, or complications.

    3. you are experiencing a low-risk pregnancy.

  • You release the Massage Therapist of all liability for any harm that may unintentionally occur during your treatment(s).

  • You give your consent for Brightlife Limited to process the data provided on this form in accordance with the Privacy Statement available from the web site http://www.brightlife.com.

 

​Client Declaration for Contra-Indications Disclaimer  

By completing and submitting the online consultation form you agree the following:-

  • You confirm that at the date of signing, all the personal and medical information you have given is correct and that you have not omitted any information concerning your health.

  • You confirm that you will keep the therapist advised of any changes to your medical circumstances, which may arise subsequent to the date of your submitted form and that you are wholly responsible for the consequences of any failure to do so.

  • You confirm that you understand there is a possibility, depending on your specific reason for treatment, that you may experience some physical discomfort, during and for a short time after, as your body adjusts to the treatment being received.

  • You confirm that you understand that the therapist will not diagnose illness, disease or any other physical or mental disorder and that massage therapy is not a substitute for a qualified medical examination, diagnosis or treatment.

  • Should the therapist believe there to be a particular health issue, they will refer you on to the relevant medical professional in order to gain a diagnosis. It may therefore be necessary to delay treatment through The Spa at Brightlife until a diagnosis has been confirmed.

  • In agreement with your medical professional, the therapist will then devise a treatment strategy around this diagnosis as appropriate. In some circumstances this may mean that your medical professional may have to give their written medical consent to the therapist and/or give the therapist access to your medical records at The Spa at Brightlife.

  • You confirm that your participation in the treatment is undertaken freely and is your choice.

  • You release the Massage Therapist of all liability for any harm that may unintentionally occur during your treatment(s).

  • You give your consent for Brightlife Limited to process the data provided on this form in accordance with the Privacy Statement available from the web site http://www.brightlife.com.

  • You hereby confirm that you fully understand and accept the contents of the Client Disclaimer and Client Declaration.

Terms & Conditions of Stay/Accommodation 

​We reserve the right to charge guests the cost of rectifying damage, caused by the deliberate, negligent or reckless act of the guest to the hotel’s property or structure.

  • Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge and send an invoice for the amount to the registered address.

  • We will however make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialists to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.

  • Smoking/vaping in rooms is strictly prohibited and incurs a minimum fine of £200 per person.

Privacy Statement 

This Privacy Statement is addressed to our customers at the spa and at events whether organised by us or a third party.  It is also addressed to our business contacts, our suppliers, job applicants and people who make an enquiry about our services.

The privacy statement is designed to help you understand how your personal data is processed by Brightlife Limited (“Brightlife”) and why. 

Personal data is data which relates to you when you can be identified from that data or from that data when combined with other information which is in the possession of or is likely to come into the possession of Brightlife.  The definition of personal data includes any expression of opinion about you and any indication of the intentions of Brightlife or any other person in respect of you.

What personal data is processed and how is it used?

If you are a customer at the spa or an event, we will obtain information from you including your name, address and contact details.  We will use these to process your booking and to keep in touch with you about it which may include asking you for feedback.  We may ask for your dietary requirements and we may also need your bank details in the event that we need to refund you by bank transfer.  Your name may be shared with the person running the event so that they have the delegate list.  The presenter of the event is not, however, permitted to use this information for any other purpose.

You should be aware that if you are attending an event, photos of the event may be taken by us or the presenter for use on our or their web site or our or their social media channels.   

If you are visiting the venue, you will be asked to complete an online form.  The form requests certain information from you and some of this information is about your health, particularly where you are a spa customer.  We may also ask for a letter from your GP if we have any concerns about providing you with services at the spa. 

 

If you request information about our services, we will use your contact details to send this to you.  If you attend an event, we will use your contact details to send you a brochure on an annual basis about forthcoming events.  You will always have the option to opt out of receiving this. 

If you are a business contact, a supplier or a referee for a potential staff member, we will hold contact information for you as well as relevant correspondence.  We might also hold your bank account details if you are an individual supplier of services to us. 

If you are a job applicant, we will use the information provided by you to assess your suitability for employment.  This will include your contact information, your employment history and your CV. 

Where is the data stored?

All of the data that we process about you is held in the Isle of Man office in paper form and/or electronically. We do use an archive provider on the Isle of Man to hold paper records for us and have applied appropriate standards of due diligence to their data protection standards. 

Who can see the information?

If you are a customer at the spa or an event, your information will only be shared with those Brightlife staff who need to see it.  If you are attending an event, your name might be shared with the person hosting the event.  If you are attending the spa and you are taken ill, we reserve the right to share your medical information with any medical staff who attend in the event that you are not in a position to share that information yourself. 

Please note that where group bookings are made, booking confirmations for each member of the group will be sent to the person making the booking on behalf of the group.

If you are a business contact, a supplier or a referee for a potential staff member your data will only be visible to those Brightlife staff who need to have access to it. 

If you are a job applicant, your data will only be visible to those Brightlife staff who need to have access to it.  We may also share information with the recruitment agency representing you when requested to do so. 

Do we use your data for marketing purposes?

If you have an attended an event, we will use your contact details to send you a brochure on an annual basis about forthcoming events.  You will always have the option to opt out of receiving this. We will not otherwise use your personal data for marketing purposes and we won’t provide your data to third parties for them to market their goods and services to you.

How long is the data kept for?

We will maintain records and data to comply with our statutory, legal and regulatory responsibilities as well as what we deem to be reasonable practice where there is no record keeping period set down in law or other rules.  We will destroy customer data in line with these retention periods. 

We will destroy business contact data when our business relationship with you comes to an end.

We will destroy data about job applicants six months after the recruitment exercise has been completed.

Your rights

If you wish to see the data processed about you by Brightlife, please contact the Managing Director on brightlife@brightlife.com or on 01624 880318.

You have additional rights under the Data Protection Act 2002 and any legislation which replaces it such as the right to rectification of incomplete data and the right of erasure of data. 

An important right that you have is the right to object to processing.  This right applies where, after careful consideration, we have decided that is in the legitimate interests of Brightlife to process data about you. 

If you are a customer at the spa or an event, we process data for our legitimate interests when ask for your dietary requirements, when we use your contact details to keep in touch with you or respond to an enquiry, when we use your financial information to process any refund and when you have attended an event and we use your contact details to send you our annual brochure;

If you are a job applicant, we process data for our legitimate interests when we use it for recruitment purposes.

You have the right to receive the personal data you provide to us in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format and have the right to transmit this data to another controller, without hindrance from us.

Accessibility
Statement

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

 

Main House

Brightlife’s Ballalheaney House is an Edwardian property. We welcome people with disabilities and every effort will be made to accommodate the requirements of disabled people. However, the configuration of the property is unlikely to be suitable for most wheelchair users.

 

We have car parking located at the front and back of our main house which is on the level and additional parking to the side of our office & spa block which is accessed by a slight incline.

 

There is a step into the main house from the front door.

 

Our dining room, library and lounge are all on the ground floor but there is no bathroom at ground floor level.

 

Bedrooms 3 &4 are on the first floor level, which is accessed by a standard flight of stairs with a single handrail, a further two or three stairs down lead to a bathroom and additional separate toilet on this landing.

 

Access to Bedrooms 1&2 on the upper first floor is via a further small flight of stairs, with a single handrail, there is level access to a shared bathroom between these rooms. 

 

We have a further eight bedrooms in the grounds, four of which are at ground level and two which are accessed via a small set of 3 descending steps. All eight rooms have a step at the threshold into the building.

 

All rooms with exception of room 6 have a bath with shower head over. Room 6 has a walk in shower and is used for any clients with impaired mobility.

 

All areas in our Main House have fitted carpets. We do have ramps available for assisting anyone with mobility issues into the building.

 

We are happy to supply information in larger print for visually impaired visitors.

 

We would advise prospective guests who wish to visit Brightlife to make us aware of any mobility issues at the time of enquiry so we may correctly advise you on the suitability of the accommodation.

The Studio

Our studio is accessed through a small lobby which has one step into the building at the threshold and contains a WC which is not equipped for disabled access.

 

The studio has a set of 5 bi-fold doors which open fully, allowing access to the adjoining terraced area.

 

Spa Facilities & Treatment Rooms

Spa facilities comprising of a sauna, steam room, and hydropool are at ground level. These can be accessed from the main entrance/reception area of the spa, which has ramped access into the building.

 

There is a designated disabled WC situated between the ladies and Gents changing areas.

 

There is a small Quiet Lounge which is on the level and opens onto a terraced area.

 

The spa area is accessed via a corridor which has a slight decline, there are no handrails. In the spa area, the pool is accessed via 3 deep steps into the pool. There are rails either side of the steps to assist entry.

 

The sauna and steam room entrances have level entry and seating is provided.

 

All areas are well lit.

 

Flooring in the spa building common areas is a wooden strip flooring, except the pool, sauna, steam room and changing areas, which are tiled.

 

Treatment Rooms

There are 6 treatment rooms situated on the level in the spa, and can be accessed from the main entrance/reception area via a corridor with a slight decline.

 

All treatment rooms have level entry.

 

Treatment beds can be lowered to assist access.

 

There is no natural light in these rooms. They are not usually brightly lit but levels are controlled by dimmer switches with overhead lighting so can be brightened to suit. Candles are also used in the rooms.

The flooring is slip resistant Amtico block flooring.

 

2 of the treatment rooms have WC’s which are not suitable for wheelchair access.
