Anthony Cain, also known as Tony, is a native of the IOM, spending his formative years in the South.

 

Following a return to higher education in 2008 he obtained a B.A. Honors Degree (1st Class) in History With Heritage Management & Manx Studies (Chester University) and an M.A. Degree in Manx Studies (The University of Liverpool).

 

In recognition of his undergraduate degree, Anthony was awarded the IOM Bank Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Higher Education. He also holds The City & Guilds Certificate for Teaching Adult Learners.

 

Since 2016 he has been actively engaged in presenting courses in local history & archaeology, primarily at The University College of Man (Adult Community Education Programme) and also to a diverse range of Island organisations, including an ongoing monthly engagement with The University of The Third Age.

 

His learning portfolio is extensive, encompassing multiple periods of the Island's past, from pre-history to modern. Anthony has a wide knowledge of landscapes, leading numerous field trips to a diverse range of sites Island-wide.

 

He retains a deep-seated enthusiasm for his subject. Anthony emphasises the importance of sharing his experience and knowledge of our rich Island heritage with others, an important aspect of personal self-development for all concerned.

 

He attaches great significance to the 'spirituality' associated with particular landscape settings.
