Drumming for the Soul – 28th April 2012

The sound of tribal drumming is an instantly uplifting, revitalising, exciting and spiritual experience – awakening our senses to something primal and beckoning us into its rhythmic magic.  During this vibrant and special day you will embark upon a fascinating and warm-hearted journey with Scott into the heart of rhythm, discovering your own rhythmical self and feeding your soul with the magical power of rhythm.

This ‘hands on’ workshop teaches not only the basics of African Djembe playing, but also authentic West African rhythms and songs alongside their cultural and spiritual significance.  You do not need any prior musical experience to truly get the most from this day.  West African drumming is accessible to all and Scott’s gentle guidance and passionate, humorous approach and authentic, buoyant enthusiasm will quickly put you at your ease, guiding you into the depths of rhythm which can bring you closer to yourself, releasing anxiety, worry and inhibition as you feel the positive nourishment of ‘drumming for the soul’.

Djembes are provided for use during the workshop, but please feel free to bring your own drum if you have one.  Ethically-sourced drums and percussion will also be available to purchase on the day.

This workshop will be preceded on Friday evening by an informative and demonstrative seminar ‘THE TRANSFORMATIONAL POWER OF MUSIC’ led by Scott.
