Pilates is a series of gentle, mat-based, muscle-strengthening exercises designed to develop core strength, improve muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength and tone, as well as improve posture. Pilates is both beneficial and suitable for a wide range of individuals – athletes and dancers use it extensively in their training, as do seniors and ante- and post-natal mothers, and individuals who are at various stages of physical rehabilitation. Due to the gentle nature of Pilates and its mind-body connection, regular practise can contribute to reducing stress and anxiety.
Our program will provide an introduction to Pilates - its history, the principles and the benefits of regular practise. We will provide you with advice on posture throughout the weekend and with 5 hours of Pilates practise included, you will be encouraged to progress at your own pace. To complement our Pilates practise, a session on Nutrition and Weight Management is included in the program, where you will learn the principles of building a sensible balanced diet and we will dispel some of the myths surrounding weight management and weight loss. There will also be time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Brightlife. Overall a relaxing and refreshing weekend.
