March 2010 Egyptian Dance and Rhythms - Katie Holland

Friday 19th, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st March 2010

This workshop will included a thorough interpretation of Arabic rhythms, bellydance technique and layering, culminating in a dynamic drum solo choreographed by Katie and Simon.

There will also be time for discussion and the chance to participate in a Zar (Trance dance) meditation - ideal for letting go of all your tensions!

Katie and Simon will also give you a demonstration after Supper on the Friday evening.

Dancing from the age of three and having studied Ballet, Tap, Modern, African, Samba, Bollywood, Classical Indian, Sacred Nepalese, Tribal Fusion, Egyptian Bellydance and Tai Chi. Katie's love of, dedication and commitment to her dance shines through and is evident to all who see. Combining traditional with her own unique interpretations - fusing herself to an ancient culture whilst dancing forth into the new. Katie enthuses and inspires this magical energy to all she meets.

Katie is in high demand as a teacher and performer at all kinds of events, with musicians at festivals, weddings, parties, holistic, corporate, river cruises and as a film extra, performing alongside Amani of Lebanon, Hossam and Serena Ramzy and many Bollywood/Hindi musicians.

She is also founder and organiser of Bodies and Beats World Music and Dance events featuring experienced teachers and performers from around the globe.
